My topic is about the impacts of music on people and how they see themselves. Because of the influences that surround them, many individuals have forgotten the important things in life. Music is a worldwide motivation that encourages people to live their lives solely for themselves. I wanted to communicate how powerful music can be through these two genres that I chose: social media and analyzing song lyrics. I wanted to reach, not only the younger generations, but anyone who has trouble loving themselves. There are so many hardships in the world right now, whether its academic, work, or self-related and music is one of the things that can help my audience overcome these difficulties.
I chose to use an Instagram post because it is such widely used platform. It easily gets information and news around, it connects friends and family who live across the world, or even a street away. Since my audience consists of mainly the younger generation, social media is a good genre to use because most of them use it. The second genre I chose was analyzing song lyrics. Many songs have hidden messages in them concealed by metaphors and similes that we might not understand when we listen to them. The song that I chose has a powerful message about loving yourself that can inspire listeners to love themselves for who they are and not what others think. The lyrics also talk about the obstacles the singers themselves faced which can encourage their listeners.
My compositions are set apart from others in the same genre because I tried to add color to it and choose things that are popular and widely used today. Instead of using Facebook I used Instagram because I felt like my audience uses that platform more. I chose this song because I know just how inspiring and life changing BTS is to not only the youth, but all ages.
